Just a snippet of Star Wars will have to suffice for now! Fans of the beloved franchise were treated to a short teaser trailer posted to Instagram on Thursday, Aug. 27 — and by the looks of it, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will not disappoint.
In the short clip, John Boyega’s character, Finn, is shown for the first time without a Stormtrooper costume, wielding a bright blue lightsaber against Adam Driver’s character, Kylo Ren, who is holding a red one.
A previous teaser trailer released in November had fans chattering about Driver’s unusual red lightsaber, which mega-fan Stephen Colbert described at the time as “a lightsaber with two mini lightsabers on it. It’s a ménage à sabres.”
This most recent teaser trailer shows off Instagram’s new landscape feature, which allows videos to exist in either portrait or landscape orientations.
Earlier this year, Star Wars vets Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill reunited at San Diego’s annual Comic-Con more than 30 years after the first film was released in 1977.
Asked how he felt returning to Star Wars, Ford replied, “It should have felt ridiculous… Here I was doing something that I did so long ago. But I can tell you that it felt great.”
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be directed by J.J. Abrams, and is set to release on Dec. 18.
