Stephen Collins' professional life has already taken a turn for the worse after a recording surfaced of the actor reportedly confessing to child molestation on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the 7th Heaven alum, 67, has been fired from the upcoming film Ted 2. It is unclear what role Collins landed in the Seth MacFarlane sequel or if he began filming. The project is set for a June 2015 release.
"I'd tell you but @SethMacFarlane would have to kill me," Collins teased of his role via Twitter on Saturday, Oct. 4. He replied to one follower: "Movie. Sequel to…(guess…ok, give up?)…Ted."
As previously reported, TMZ published a tape earlier on Tuesday of Collins allegedly revealing his actions during a therapy session with his estranged wife, actress Faye Grant. Grant taped the conversation without his knowledge in 2012.
In the graphic recording, Collins appears to admit to molesting a relative of his first wife, Marjorie Weinman, "a couple of times." A second victim was an L.A. neighbor and the third was from New York and 12 or 13 at the time.
Collins has yet to comment on the matter. Kim Y. Royster, Deputy Chief Commanding Officer, Public Information Division tells Us Weekly that "there is a formal complaint on file and the incident is being investigated by the Manhattan Special Victims Squad."
