Steve Harvey is likely ready for a new year. The Family Feud host became emotional while acknowledging his December 20 Miss Universe flub on his show in a segment airing Monday, January 18.
“This has caused a lot of sleepless nights for me,” Harvey, 58, revealed. “I didn’t do any interviews until I could talk to the two people who were affected the most, Pia and Ariadna. No matter how tough it was for me, I can’t imagine how it was for these two women. This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure.”
In case you missed it, Harvey accidentally crowned Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner instead of the actual Miss Universe, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach. Both ladies will appear on The Steve Harvey Show on Monday and Tuesday for a special pretaped two-part series.
In a preview, Miss Philippines, 26, defends an emotional Harvey, who is questioned as to whether he attended rehearsals or not.
“I think I can vouch for this one,” the beauty queen says after hugging Harvey. “Steve was there throughout all the rehearsals. He was there during technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals … he was there all throughout. We rehearsed everything from start to finish and made us feel very comfortable … so I don’t know where that rumor came from.”
