Taco Bell Opening Upscale Cantina Restaurants, Will Serve Alcohol

Taco Bell's new Cantina Menu
Taco Bell is opening upscale eateries Taco Bell Cantina and they're going to serve booze!

It’s all happening! Taco Bell is joining the likes of Chipotle and will now offer beer or wine with your beloved five-layer burrito.

The fast-food chain announced on Tuesday, Sept. 15, that it’s opening upscale Taco Bell Cantina restaurants. The new venues won’t have drive-thrus and will feature open-design kitchens with food in baskets for customers to see the ingredients a la Chipotle. The restaurants will also feature new technology, including digital menu boards, television monitors, and a mobile ordering and payment app. Most importantly, Taco Bell Cantina’s will serve beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages including sangria.

The first location will open this week in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, and a second will open later this month in San Francisco.heidi and spencer eating tacos

“Taco Bell is dropping the drive-thru, opening its kitchens, and using technology to create a new experience as the brand expands into urban markets,” the company said in a press release. The concept, the statement continued, also “brings on the booze as it seeks to appeal to hip, young city dwellers and fend off popular rival Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc.” Taco Bell also recently started offering customers delivery via app DoorDash.

For the record, Chrissy Teigen has yet to comment.
