Welcome to the neighborhood, Taylor Swift! Just weeks after reports surfaced that the 23-year-old dropped more than $17 million on a waterfront mansion in the small coastal community of Watch Hill, Rhode Island, a man was arrested for trespassing on her property in the middle of the night.

According to police, the man, 22-year-old Lucas H. Borsteveld, was spotted coming out of some bushes by officers on routine patrol around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday morning and was cited for trespassing.

Though multiple media outlets reported that Borsteveled swam to a beach near Swiftís estate but was scared off by private guards (with some reporting he swam a mile), Captain Shawn Lacey of Rhode Islandís Westerly Police Department told The Westerly Sun that he didnít know if Vorsteveld had been in the water before being arrested and that Swiftís security didnít indicate that he was. And with water temps only reaching the low 50s this week, that would have been a chilly mile …

Still, it wasnít like the guy was just a curious local resident. According to the police report, the ìfanî is from Chicago, does not have a home in the area, and claimed to be ìjust out for a walkî when he was asked by officers what he was doing on a clearly marked private road.

He was taken into custody ìwithout incident,î charged with trespassing, and released on a summons to appear in court on May 25. Whether or not Swift was at the home at the time has not been confirmed, but she more than likely was not considering she's in the middle of her Red concert tour and is scheduled to perform a sold-out show in Houston on Thursday.

Captain Lacey has not yet returned omg!ís request for comment, but tells the Westerly Sun that his department has fielded hundreds of calls from the media regarding the incident, not a usual week for the department. And itís excitement thatís most likely unwanted in the wealthy-but-quiet town (population: 154) of Watch Hill. If only some rich business executive had bought the house instead Ö they tend to have less obsessed fans than pretty young pop stars.
