She’s officially taken. Teyana Taylor revealed that she’s already married to NBA player Iman Shumpert during her appearance on The Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, September 20. The couple was thrust into the spotlight last month after appearing in Kanye West’s raunchy “Fade” music video.
At first Taylor, 25, dodged questions about their marital status. “Do I call you Mrs. Shumpert? Because I think you’re secretly married,” the talk show host asked.
“I mean, you can do whatever you want,” the “Put Your Love On” singer joked. After Williams asked her point blank if she had tied the knot, Taylor replied, “Maybe, maybe not, but maybe.”
Later in the interview, Taylor, who is signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. music label, explained why now was finally the right time in her life to collaborate with the “Famous” rapper. “I have a beautiful baby, a wonderful husband,” she said, confirming the news.
The couple share a 9-month-old daughter, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. Taylor welcomed her first child in the bathroom of her home when she surprisingly went into labor and couldn’t make it to the hospital. “Iman had to tie the umbilical cord with a Beats by Dre cord,” she told Williams.
Taylor also showed off her unique “untreated” ruby ring from the Cleveland Cavaliers player, which she claimed was “worth more than a diamond.” “[Iman’s] a smart man. He’s like, if anything was to ever happen, that ring alone, you’re already set,” she said. “I’m like, yaaas, I like your style!”
The dancer also opened up about what went into her “Fade” performance. “It was bigger than a sports bra and a thong. It was a lot of emotion in that dance, a lot of intensity,” she said.
