It’s the freakin’ Weeknd, indeed. The Weeknd took to the stage on Saturday Night Live for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 10, and surprised fans with a remix of his hit “The Hills” — and a special guest to boot.
The R&B crooner, real name Abel Tesfaye, kicked off the popular song solo, but about halfway through his performance, Nicki Minaj strolled onstage amid the cheers and applause from the studio audience to spit her own verse.
“Remember that time I showed up with just panties up in my coat / High heels that was knee high and my legs were gripping that throat / You told me this and I quote / ‘Cause we popped pills and you smoked / You said, ‘Your stuff got me strung out, it’s like doing lines of some coke,’” she rhymed smoothly. “You the president and I’m Biden / Just slide in ‘cause you’re safe / Baby, third base.”
Minaj, 32, later returned to the stage to join The Weeknd, 25, in a rousing rendition of his hit “Can’t Feel My Face.”
Later on in the evening, the singer released both his “The Hills” remix with Minaj, as well as another version, this time with Eminem.
“Too good to pass up! I had to do the remix for #thehills with @theweeknd,” Eminem tweeted with a link to the Beauty Behind the Madness remixes.
SNL capped off a busy week for The Weeknd. On Friday, he joined girlfriend Bella Hadid, her sister Gigi, Gigi’s boyfriend Joe Jonas, and the sisters’ mother Yolanda Foster for a birthday lunch for Bella.
The pair began dating earlier this spring, as Us Weekly exclusively confirmed.
