Thomas Gibson Joins Twitter to Stay in Touch With ‘Criminal Minds’ Fans After Firing

Keep in touch! Thomas Gibson joined Twitter on Tuesday, August 16, to keep the channels of communication open with his Criminal Minds fans following his firing from the series earlier this month.

“I wish I could thank each of you for your friendship & support,” he wrote in his first tweet. “I love ‘Criminal Minds,’ & I’m disappointed by what’s happened #ThomasGibson. I’m here on #Twitter so we can stay connected in the days to come, and talk directly with each other.”

The 54-year-old actor got into a verbal argument with one of the writers on the show earlier this month, and their disagreement turned physical when Gibson allegedly kicked the other man.

After being suspended from the show, Gibson was summarily fired on Friday, August 12, according to producers of the long-running CBS crime series.

“Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds,” ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios said in a statement released to Us Weekly at the time. “Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.”

Several days later, Gibson hired a top Los Angeles lawyer to pursue a possible lawsuit over the alleged altercation.

“The support you show means the world to me and my family,” Gibson tweeted Tuesday. “This is not an ending, but a beginning as well. Thank you all. #ThomasGibson.”

At present, the actor has just over 2,900 followers.
