Tom Hanks can officiate your wedding! The Bridges of Spies star told Extra that it cost him less than $40 to become ordained to officiate Allison Williams’ wedding to Ricky Van Veen earlier this month.
“Here's what I did,” Hanks recalled. “I studied the ministry for over $35. And if you want to call me the Right Reverend Tom Hanks, I think you should.”
"I'm for rent,” the funnyman, 59, joked. “If you can afford the honorarium, I'll be there for ya."
Hanks, who has been married to wife Rita Wilson for almost 30 years (Wilson also happens to play Williams’ character’s mom on Girls), offered all spouses a word of advice. “Don’t be stupid,” he told Extra’s AJ Calloway. “I think that anybody that gets married is partaking in an act of bravery."
Williams, 27, and entrepreneur Van Veen, 34, tied the knot on Sept. 19 in a star-studded ranch wedding out West, Us Weekly exclusively revealed. Along with Hanks and Wilson, Williams’ A-list pals in attendance included Katy Perry, John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, Bee Shaffer, Andy Cohen, and costar Lena Dunham.
