Vanessa Hudgens Thanks Fans for Support After Emotional ‘Grease: Live’ Performance Following Father’s Death: Read Her Touching Tweets

It's been an unforgettable weekend for Vanessa Hudgens, who took a brief moment on Monday, February 1, to thank her fans for their support during one of the most bittersweet times in her life. The Grease: Live standout, who shared her messages via Twitter, played Betty Rizzo in the instantly beloved live telecast just one day after her father, Greg Hudgens, passed away.

Hudgens' father died from stage 4 cancer on Saturday, January 30, hours before the actress, 27, was scheduled to perform in the three-hour live Fox broadcast.

“It was incredibly hard for her," a source told Us Weekly on Monday, "but she’s a true entertainer, so it was on with the show."

The High School Musical alum has also found support and empathy from her longtime boyfriend, Austin Butler, whose mom, Lori, passed away from cancer in September 2014. At the time, the 24-year-old actor described his late parent as his "best friend" and his "hero."

"He was by [Vanessa's] side nonstop," the source told Us. "And having been through the same situation with his mom, he was very understanding."
