Victoria Beckham made her first public response to eldest son Brooklyn Beckham’s social media statement from earlier this year.
“I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much,” Victoria, 51, told The Wall Street Journal in a profile published on Thursday, April 16. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.”
The Spice Girls alum noticeably did not reference her son by name.
“And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children,” she continued. “And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
Victoria explained that she and husband David Beckham are “trying to do the best we can” when it comes to raising their kids.
“Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it’s very different from having little children,” she said.

Victoria and David, 50, are the parents of Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14. The family has been making headlines for years about a reported family feud with Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, which allegedly started ahead of their 2022 wedding.
Brooklyn publicly addressed the drama earlier this year, slamming his family in a lengthy Instagram statement in January.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn wrote at the time. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”
“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Brooklyn continued, claiming that his family has “controlled narratives in the press” for his “entire life.”
Brooklyn called out “performative social media posts” from members of his family which were apparently a “fixture” of his life.
“Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of the innocent people, to preserve their own facade,” he continued. “But I believe the truth always comes out.”
As Brooklyn continued, he alleged that Victoria and David “have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship” with Nicola since before their wedding.
“Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, l’ve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders,” he alleged, calling out specific instances that apparently occurred during his wedding and ahead of David’s 50th birthday celebration in May 2025.
“Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” he added. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”
During Thursday’s Wall Street Journal interview, Victoria made it clear that any headlines regarding her family have not impacted her fashion and beauty businesses.
“I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good,” she said. “I don’t think they’re buying my eyeliner just because it’s me.”
