Baltimore Teacher Caught on Video Using N-Word on Black Middle School Students

A middle school teacher in Baltimore was fired from her job after she was captured on video shouting racial slurs at a classroom filled with black students. Watch the shocking footage in the video above.

Cellphone footage captured on Tuesday, November 15, shows the white educator, who has not been named, yelling, “Leave! Get out of my class,” as she shoves a boy out of the room at Harlem Park Elementary/Middle School. “You’re idiots!” she seethes, before warning the children that “if you don’t get an education you will wind up being a punk ass n—er who is gonna get shot.” She also called her students “stupid” during her one-minute rant.

Baltimore City Schools CEO Dr. Sonja Santelises condemned the teacher’s behavior at a press conference on Thursday. “In the current climate, we in city schools are very, very clear about where we stand with any kind of hate speech [and] any kind of obvious discriminatory language,” she said. Santelises added, “There are many people who struggle with classroom management, but they don’t resort to hate language. We can’t provide enough support to counteract what’s in someone’s heart.”

City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young tweeted about his concern on November 17. “It turns my stomach to think about this woman in front of a classroom of impressionable young minds,” he wrote. “There’s zero tolerance for adults who violate our young people. That video is proof that we have more work to do as a city and a country.”

The Baltimore Teachers Union released a statement on Thursday, November 17, saying the teacher had been terminated.
