Like, really? This again?! Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been married for 17 years, and according to their daughter, Willow Smith, they’ve been divorced and back again about as many times — if rumors are to be believed.
"The media thinks my parents are getting divorced like every second hahaha!" Willow, 14, wrote on Twitter Monday, Aug. 3, hours after Will and Jada shot down their latest reported trip to divorce court.
The most recent round of false marital strife came from RadarOnline earlier Monday, when the outlet reported Will, 46, and Jada, 43, were over. Once the report turned into a Facebook trending topic, Will was forced to respond to the "foolish" headline. "But, so many people have extended me their 'deepest condolences' that I figured – 'What the hell… I can be foolish, too!'" Will wrote via Facebook on Monday. "So, in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness… Jada and I are… NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!"
The Independence Day actor concluded his social media statement by confirming that any news would be shared by the couple directly. "I promise you all – if I ever decide to divorce my Queen – I SWEAR I'll tell you myself! #Dumb People Should Have to Wear Scarlet D's."
For her part, Jada is fine with folks taking a microscope to their marriage. After all, the actress realizes the Smiths' day-to-day struggle could be quite different.
"If you really want to know, I'm thankful for the Hollywood scrutiny, that that’s my problem," she told American Way magazine in the August issue. "There are mothers out there losing their sons, their husbands, their daughters," she said. "I'm blessed. So scrutinize me. I’ll take that any day over what the majority of my people are dealing with on a daily basis. I dare not complain. Hollywood scrutiny has nothing on what I’ve survived just to be here."
