Barry Gesser, one of the real-life advisers to the Wolf of Wall Street Jordan Belfort, was found dead in West Hollywood on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
According to TMZ, Gesser’s cause of death is unknown. Law enforcement, who could not confirm Gesser's name, state they responded to a call on Doheny Drive around 12:30 p.m.
The former hedge fund manager, who reportedly consulted with director Martin Scorsese for the Oscar-nominated film, was 52. According to TMZ, police do not suspect foul play, and an investigation is still ongoing.
Gesser pleaded guilty to fraud in 1999 and was sentenced to three years probation. The 2013 movie starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort and Jonah Hill as Danny Porush, a fellow stockbroker involved in the “pump and dump” fraud scheme.
