Zayn Malik Jokes About Having a ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’-Style Sex Life

Damn, Zaddy! Zayn Malik joked about having a Fifty Shades of Grey–style sex life in a new radio interview. Speaking with SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up in New York City Thursday, December 15, the One Direction alum, 23 — who recently dropped the Taylor Swift–assisted track “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack — was asked if he ever read the erotic trilogy or saw the first movie.

Though Malik said that he has never picked up one of the novels, he is well aware of the NSFW activities that author EL James writes about. When one of the DJs joked that the singer, who is currently dating Gigi Hadid, “lived the movie,” he flashed a smile and laughed. “I like that,” he said, as seen in the video above.

During his chat with The Morning Mash Up, the British heartthrob also revealed how his romance with Hadid, 21, began. “Yeah, I just asked her [out]. It was pretty straight up,” he explained. “I just asked her if she wanted to go out. I was in New York; I was here.”

Pressed further about their initial introduction, Malik — who first started dating the model in November 2015 — replied, “A gentleman never tells the full details! But yeah, we met and we spoke, and we went on a date.”

Back in September, the “Pillowtalk” crooner opened up to Paper about how his love life (and especially his bedroom escapades!) inspired his first solo album, Mind of Mine, which was released March 25.

“It wasn’t a conscious decision to make [the album] sexual or refer to sex,” he told the magazine. “But I just found out that a lot of situations that I was in were quite sexual situations — all of the time. … I enjoyed singing about [sex], clearly.”
