His lads aren’t loving the change. Zayn Malik’s One Direction bandmates are concerned about the singer following his departure from their On the Road Again world tour on Thursday, Mar. 19. Besides being stressed, an insider tells Us Weekly that rumors that he cheated on his fiancee Perrie Edwards also played a factor in his decision to take a time out.
“The members are worried about him and his future with the group,” the source tells Us. “We’ve been close to this moment a few times but when people started coming for his relationship with Perrie it really spooked him.”
“He did nothing wrong, no cheating, but those sorts of lies can be really damaging,” the source adds. “He’s wondering if this is a sign to move on [from the band].”
One day before announcing his hiatus, the British heartthrob lashed out about the rumors via Twitter. “I’m 22 years old…I love a girl named Perrie Edwards,” he tweeted, in response to photos that surfaced of him with a mystery blonde in Phuket, Thailand. “And there’s a lot of jealous f—-s in this world. I’m sorry for what it looks like x.”
Despite the abrupt exit, the show must go on. Malik’s pals — Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson — are currently on their way to the Philippines for shows this weekend.
As for Malik? He’s now spending time with his family at home, the source says. Edwards has already stopped by to see him.
