Christina Grimmie's Family Shares Personal Photos of Late Singer on 10th Anniversary of Death

Christina Grimmie's loved ones are reflecting on some of their fondest memories with the late singer. Grimmie's family and best friend Lauren Longo shared personal photos with Us Weekly as they mark the 10th anniversary of the Voice alum's death on Wednesday, June 10. "We want Christina to be remembered for the person and artist she was, not just the tragedy," dad Albert Grimmie recently told Us for an exclusive feature on his daughter's lasting legacy. Albert, Christina's late mother, Tina Grimmie, and the YouTuber's brother, Marcus Grimmie, cofounded the Christina Grimmie Foundation in 2016 to support families impacted by gun violence after a man fatally shot the 22-year-old during a meet-and-greet in Orlando, Florida. Christina acted as a child in her home state of New Jersey.

Friends Forever

Christina credited childhood pal Longo with encouraging her to start posting videos on YouTube in 2009 when she was 15 years old. "I could tell she was abnormally talented," Longo told Us. Christina also brought Longo along when she auditioned for The Voice in 2013.

An Inspiration

Albert described his late daughter as a "pioneer" on YouTube, noting that she "reached the world from her bedroom, where people wanted to be like her, and they cut their hair like her and tried to sing and play the keyboard like her."

Christina once joked that her family was "stupidly close."

Christmas Memories

Christina was deeply religious. "She was very Christian but accepting of all this new-age stuff coming up," Marcus shared, adding that his late sister "touched people" with her music.

Helping Others

Albert said Marcus came up with the "great idea" for them and Tina to launch the Christina Grimmie Foundation to "memorialize" the singer.

Musical Prodigy

Christina used a microphone and an 8-track recorder to make music at home prior to her breakout success.

Girl Power

Christina had a chance to meet her favorite artist, Christina Aguilera, after rising to fame. While the "Beautiful" singer was a coach on The Voice for several years, she was not a part of the late contestant's 2014 season.

Christina's mom, Tina, lost her battle with breast cancer in September 2018. She was 59.
