An Ohio woman was arrested after she allegedly bit and injured a 3-month-old boy while the baby was in her care.

Kamariea Marshall has been accused of injuring the boy she was babysitting in March and has been charged with three counts of child endangerment, according to WTVG.

The boy’s mother told authorities that her child was staying with Marshall while she packed her apartment, which was about to undergo renovations.

“I only had three days to pack my whole house up, so she had him for the three days that I was packing my house,” the mother told WTVG.

The mother said that Marshall allegedly texted her days after the boy had already been in her care asking why the child had marks on his body. Marshall then took the boy to the hospital so doctors could look at his injuries.

“When I walked in that room, they said that he wasn’t breathing,” the mother recalled to the outlet about her arrival at the hospital.

The mother claimed that her son sustained several injuries since the last time she saw him, which included bruises on his chest, fractured ribs, a bite mark on his legs and scratches on his cheeks.

After the boy was evaluated, doctors suspected that he had been abused and they contacted authorities.

The babysitter allegedly told hospital staff that she believed the boy was sick, according to the mother.

Marshall was indicted on the charges in April and she turned herself in to Adult Probation on May 4, according to the outlet. At the time of her recent arrest, she was on probation for prior theft and assault convictions.

Marshall has since been booked into the Lucas County Jail in Toledo, Ohio, and she is next scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 13, regarding the recent charges.

It is not currently clear if Marshall has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following her arrest.

The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office and Lucas County Jail did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment regarding Marshall’s arrest.

While not much has been shared about the abuse allegations due to the victim’s age, the boy’s mother did share an update about how her son is doing. “He’s doing good. He’s healthy,” she told the outlet.

It is not clear how Marshall first came into contact with the victim’s family and if she had babysat the boy in the past.
