Authorities confirmed that a father and daughter were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Jessup, Pennsylvania, at a home down the street from police headquarters.

Officers with the Jessup Borough Police Department were dispatched to the home around 11 a.m. on Monday, August 10, according to WNEP. Police initially responded to the home for a welfare check, and are now investigating the case as a murder-suicide.

Police then found the victims Anthony Bruno, who was known by the neighbors as Tony, and his daughter, Samantha Bruno, dead on the second floor of the home following a reported shooting.

Further details of their deaths have not been shared, while it has not been revealed if police believe that Anthony, 68, or Samantha, 32, were behind the killings.

Additionally, Jessup Police Chief Eddie Boettcher revealed that the family’s dog was found dead inside of the home, according to News Channel 2 Now.

He also confirmed that the family did not have an issue of reported domestic incidents.

Authorities said they believe the murder-suicide was an isolated incident and that there was no threat to the public.

Prior to confirming the murder-suicide, Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher told FOX56 that authorities were investigating a shooting that involved two deaths.

“There is a shooting investigation in which two are deceased in Jessup, Pennsylvania,” Gallagher said.

The investigation into the case remains ongoing as authorities work to determine what happened.

The Jessup Borough Police Department did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment regarding the case.

Several neighbors were left in shock following the murder-suicide, with Aalexis Misiura telling WNEP that the neighborhood’s energy was “chaotic” following the killings.

Misiura, who has lived in the neighborhood for 14 years, told the outlet that she was working from home when she noticed police cars outside of the residence and suspected something bad had happened.

“It’s still concerning because we’re a close community; nothing really of this nature ever happens in Jessup, so when something like this happens, it’s alarming, but they said there’s nothing to worry about,” she said.

Fellow neighbor Nick Kutchmanich had nothing but good things to say about Anthony, who he knew for 15 years while growing up next door.

“I don’t think he ever did anything wrong in his life,” Kutchmanich said of Anthony, who owned his own business as a mechanic. “He was a good family man; he was an honest man. I’ve never known him to have an enemy in his life.”
