Another man has been arrested on Long Island for attempted kidnapping after allegedly trying to lure a child into a house in Uniondale.

The Nassau County Police Department said Nelson Acevedo was arrested on Wednesday, April 15, just after 1 p.m.

“According to detectives, officers received the report of an attempted kidnapping” on Tuesday, April 14, at around 4 p.m., and “were informed that an 11-year-old victim was walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Chester Street and Front Street when he was approached by an unknown male subject who offered him money in an attempt to lure him into a nearby home,” reads a statement from cops.

Local reports indicate Acevedo, 51, was saying to the victim “Mommy, mommy” and started blowing kisses at the boy.

At one point, Acevedo allegedly flashed a $100 bill at the child and said, “I will give you $100 if you come inside the house.”

“The victim refused and attempted to walk away,” reads the police statement.

That is when police claim Acevedo “forcibly grabbed the victim’s wrist, trying to prevent him from escaping and causing the victim to fear for his safety.”

The boy yanked his arm away from Acevedo and started walking away fast.

The boy was not injured in the incident, which happened not far from the boy’s school.

In addition to attempted kidnapping, Acevedo was charged with unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.

“I was walking in front of the blue house when I was walking by a young boy,” Acevedo allegedly told police. “I said ‘Hello’ to the young boy, then he said bye to me and kept on walking.”

Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder applauded the boy for doing exactly what he should have.

“They should all take an example, don’t stop, don’t communicate, walk in pairs, stay together, as soon as someone tries to confront you, take off, run to the nearest person you see that is an adult and hopefully that will work out well,”

Acevedo is now the subject of a stay away order of protection granted to the victim. He remains in custody on $625,000 bond.

Late last month, police in neighboring Suffolk County arrested Carlos Corte-Corte, claiming he led a 4-year-old girl straight out the back exit of The Laundry Kingdom of Patchogue before leaving the area with the child.

The alleged kidnapping attempt occurred just after noon on March 28, according to a statement from police. The distracted mom was in the laundromat with another of her children when she realized that the girl was missing.
