A mother in Florida was arrested after she allegedly beat her 8-year-old daughter several times and forced her to eat expired food from the trash.

Naseline Timouche was arrested on Saturday, June 6, and was charged with aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm and child neglect without causing great bodily harm, according to the arrest report viewed by CBS News.

Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reported to her home after they received a call requesting a welfare check.

Upon their arrival, deputies spoke to the girl and noted that she had numerous scars and other marks covering her body.

The girl told deputies that she had been left home alone for extended periods of time on a handful of occasions, including overnight. Additionally, she claimed that her mom hit her numerous times with a cord, a frying pan and spatula.

Timouche, 27, was also accused of not feeding her daughter often because the food at their home was for “guests.” Instead, Timouche only allowed her child to eat expired food or food from the trash.

The girl claimed that she would sometimes be woken up by Timouche hitting her for no apparent reason, adding that her mother hit her in the face with a charging cable for seemingly no reason.

Deputies noted in the report that the girl had several marks and scars, which were consistent with the claims she made about her mother’s alleged abuse.

Authorities also spoke to a witness, who said that she was introduced to the victim about two months ago through another neighbor. The witness said she allowed the child to stay in her home and provided her with food after Timouche allegedly left her alone on several occasions.

Additionally, the witness said that she provided the girl with food and clean clothes on Friday, June 5, after she found her walking around without adult supervision.

It is not currently clear if Timouche has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following her arrest. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment regarding the case.

The investigation into the allegations made against Timouche remains ongoing.
