A New York City mother was charged with murder after her 25-year-old autistic son was found brutally slain inside their home in Queens.

The New York Police Department confirmed to Us that in addition to being charged with murder, Suk Kuen Wong was also hit with a weapon possession charge on Wednesday, October 21, in connection to her son Bryan Wong’s death.

Authorities said that police learned of Bryan’s death when his dad found him with slit wrists and a gash to his neck inside of the family’s residence on October 14.

Law enforcement sources said that following her son’s death, Suk Kuen, 62, reportedly jumped off the Van Wyck Expressway in an apparent suicide attempt, according to the New York Post. She survived the jump and was hospitalized with a broken pelvis and femur.

On October 14, authorities responded to the family’s three-story walk-up apartment building around 8 a.m. after Bryan’s father found his deceased body following an apparent attack. Police said that the victim suffered cuts to both his wrists and there was a visible wound on the left side of his neck. Bryan was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Police added that at least three knives were recovered from the home.

The crime has left neighbors in shock, with some saying that the Wong family was always friendly and quiet.

“They’re very quite nice family,” one resident told the outlet of the family. “I never hear anything wrong with them before. It is very sad because I’ve been living in this area for almost 31 years. I have seen this boy growing up. So, he was like, to me, as a son.”

Neighbor Patricia Guevara told the New York Post that “the son doesn’t speak,” but that he made “noises” like grunting and “only screams.”

“When I see [the mother], she always says, ‘Hi, hi,’” she added. “But she looks tired. She was tired and stressed out. They barely took him out. It’s your son, how [are] you going to kill him?”

Wong was still hospitalized as of Thursday afternoon, and an arraignment for her charges has not yet been scheduled.

It is not currently clear if Suk Kuen has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following her arrest. The New York Police Department had no additional updates to share when contacted by Us about updates in the case.
