A teenage boy in New Jersey has been arrested after he allegedly killed his grandmother, who was found with knives stabbed into her face.

Louis Brown was arrested on May 18 and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of his grandmother Darlene Brown, according to a press release from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police responded to a residence in Jackson Township around 7 a.m. on May 18 after they received a 911 call claiming that someone had been murdered. Prosecutors stated that Louis, 18, made the call, per the release.

Louis allegedly told 911 dispatchers that he had been drinking prior to his grandmother’s death, according to Jersey Shore Online. He also reportedly told officers he did not want to be questioned about the incident.

A neighbor told police that she heard “blasting loud music” near the residence around 1 a.m. just hours before the 911 call was made, which she said was unusual for the home.

Upon their arrival, officers found Louis standing in the front doorway of the home. Louis walked out of the home with his hands up and was immediately taken into custody, while officers entered the home to investigate the situation.

Officers made their way to an upstairs bedroom, where they found Darlene, 69, dead with apparent stab wounds to her face and neck. The press release stated that investigators also found two knives protruding from the victim.

Louis was transported to the Ocean County Jail, and he currently remains in custody as he awaits a detention hearing.

It is not currently clear if Louis has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following his arrest. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment when contacted about updates in the case.

Not much else has been shared about the case, including if authorities believe Louis had a motive in killing Darlene or what their relationship was like prior to the incident.

However, school officials reportedly told investigators that Louis had recently made threatening remarks and gestures at school, according to Jersey Shore Online. The concerning behavior allegedly included him making statements about wanting to kill people, as well as making motions as if he was holding a gun with his hands.

The victim’s daughter also reportedly told investigators that Louis “did not seem to be himself” in the days leading up to Darlene’s murder, per the outlet. Louis’ mother said she became increasingly worried after she attempted to contact her mother and Louis several times, though all of her calls went unanswered.
