TikTok stars Dakota Harper and Felicity Eatmon have been charged with arson after they allegedly burned down an abandoned home.
Harper, 21, and Eatmon, 22, were arrested on Tuesday, September 29, and hit with first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson charges, according to the criminal complaint that was filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court and viewed by WCHS-TV.
The Charleston Police Department confirmed to Us that the couple was arrested two days after the house in Charleston, Virginia, went up in flames on the night of Sunday, September 27.
The fire was reported about 11:15 p.m. and smoke continued to linger in the area into the early morning hours of Monday, September 28. Investigators said the home was abandoned at the time it was set ablaze, and there were no active utilities.
An investigation was launched into the matter, and authorities said they obtained surveillance footage that allegedly showed Eatmon handing Harper a lit piece of paper that he then placed inside of the home.
The video then showed the couple entering the home before they eventually left the property.
The nearby Canaan United Methodist Church reportedly suffered $10,000 worth of damage.
Following their arrests, both Harper and Eatmon were arraigned on September 29 and taken into custody at South Central Regional Jail. Additionally, they were each given $10,000 bonds. It is not currently clear if either suspect has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following their arrests.
Authorities have also not shared if they believe the couple had a motive in setting the fire. The Charleston Police Department had no additional updates when contacted by Us about the case.
Harper and Eatmon have a large following on TikTok, in which they share videos of their life as a couple living in West Virginia. Their joint account has approximately 26.7K followers as of time of publication.
Following their arrests, several people took to social media to weigh in on the controversy and slam the couple for setting the fire. “All of that just for internet clout. Definitely not worth it. Hope when they flip burgers after release they don’t do anything to the fryers,” one person wrote via X, suggesting that the pair started the fire for content and views. Another social media user added, “Throw the f***ing book at them. Let them know their stupid action has CONSEQUENCES. No probation at home JAIL TIME is needed to teach them and other social dumb asses that there is consequences to their actions.”
