The shocking death of Mica Miller will be at the forefront of Netflix’s August 2026 docuseries Death of the Pastor’s Wife.
Miller was found dead in April 2024 and her death was ruled a suicide. However, the case became more twisted when evidence revealed Miller claimed she was the victim of a stalking plot in the months leading up to her death.
As the investigation into Miller’s death unfolded, her pastor husband, John-Paul Miller, was arrested for cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators.

What Happened to Mica Miller?
Mica was 30 years old and living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at the time of her death. She was found dead on April 27, 2024, at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina, and medical examiners officially ruled her death as suicide.
However, speculation regarding how she died was sparked when details of her tumultuous separation from John-Paul became known.
Following her death, police said that Mica claimed she was a victim in a stalking plot and she even told authorities that she was “afraid for her life” one month before she died, according to Netflix’s Tudum.
Despite speculation about what happened, Mica’s cause of death has continued to be ruled a suicide.
Why Was Mica Miller’s Husband John-Paul Miller Arrested?
An investigation into Mica’s death revealed that John-Paul was behind his estranged wife’s stalking.
John-Paul was indicted of cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators by a grand jury in December 2025, according to United State’s Attorney’s Office District of South Carolina.
He was accused of sending unwanted and harassing communications to Mica beginning in November 2022 until her death. John-Paul allegedly posted a nude photo of Mica online without her consent and tracked her vehicles with tracking devices. At one point, he even contacted her over 50 times in one day. Additionally, John-Paul was accused of interfering with her finances and her daily activities.
While being interviewed about the case by federal investigators, John-Paul allegedly lied to authorities.
John-Paul has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his trial is scheduled to begin in October 2026.
If John-Paul is convicted of the charges, he will face a maximum penalty of five years in prison for cyberstalking and two years in prison for his false statements. He could also be ordered to pay a fine of up to $250,000.
