Wade Griffin’s love story took a terrifying turn when his new girlfriend, Taylor Parker, revealed she was pregnant after just a few months of dating. Their whirlwind romance initially seemed picture-perfect, but questions began to swirl as more time passed. It turned out that Griffin’s loved ones had a right to worry, as she was actually faking her pregnancy the entire time.
What ensued was Parker murdering her 21-year-old pregnant friend, cutting out the unborn baby and trying to pass off the child as her own.
The disturbing story became the subject of Netflix’s Maternal Instinct documentary, leaving many people to wonder what happened to Griffin and where he is today.
Inside Wade Griffin and Taylor Parker’s Relationship
Griffin is a Texas native who works as a roofer, welder, hog-trapper and livestock manager.
He met Parker at a rodeo in the summer of 2019, and their romance quickly evolved.
Parker moved into Griffin’s home in the fall of 2019 and claimed she was pregnant soon after in January 2020. However, it was unknown to Griffin that Parker – who had two children from previous relationships – was secretly unable to have kids after having a hysterectomy.
Taylor Parker Killed Pregnant Friend Reagan Simmons-Hancock
Parker went to her pregnant friend Reagan Simmons-Hancock’s home on October 9, 2020, with a sinister plan to kill her. After she strangled and stabbed Simmons-Hancock, Parker performed a C-section on her body to remove the unborn child.
After the crime, Parker was driving erratically when she was pulled over by state troopers. Parker told the officers that she had just given birth on the side of the road and was on her way to meet Griffin at the hospital.
Parker was then taken to the hospital, where it was swiftly determined that she had not given birth. Police grew suspicious that she was involved in the death of Simmons-Hancock and her child and she was ultimately arrested for the crime.
She was found guilty of capital murder and kidnapping in October 2022 and was sentenced to death the following month. Parker is currently in custody awaiting her execution. The sole method of execution in Texas is lethal injection.
Where Is Wade Griffin Now?
Griffin shared his story in Maternal Instinct, but has lived a mostly private life out of the spotlight.
“[It] pretty much ruined my whole reputation. Slandered my name, my brothers, my mom. I lost my job over it,” Griffin testified in court about his experience with Parker, per WRLB. “Still trying to figure out stuff today. Worst thing I’ve ever had to live through, for sure.”
Griffin insisted that he had no involvement or knowledge of Parker’s schemes and investigators depicted him as one of Parker’s many victims during her trial.
He also admitted that Parker “manipulated” him throughout their relationship during the trial.
Shortly after Parker was convicted, Simmons-Hancock’s widower, Homer Hancock, filed a negligence and wrongful death suit against Parker and Griffin, per WJTV. Griffin was accused of being partially responsible for Parker’s erratic driving, which contributed to the death of his child. Parker was driving a car registered to Griffin at the time she was pulled over.
It is not currently clear if an outcome has been reached in the suit.
