Mary Kate Golding’s life came to a tragic end when her husband, Joseph Azzaretto, allegedly killed her in their New York City apartment before he died by suicide.
Prior to her death, Golding worked in the entertainment industry as a set designer and had credits on several shows such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Goosebumps.

Who Was Mary Kate Golding?
Golding lived in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York, at the time of her death. She attended high school at Council Rock North High School in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and graduated from New York University in 2015, according to her Facebook profile.
She previously worked as an art department production assistant, art department coordinator, set dec coordinator, set decorator buyer, assistant set director and set dresser, according to her IMDB page.
Her credits included the television shows The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Gotham, The Undoing, The Flight Attendant, Hawkeye, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Goosebumps and Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer.
As for movies, Golding worked on projects including The Big Sick, An Imperfect Murder and Marry Me.
Golding was also hired to work as an assistant set decorator on the upcoming film Deep Cuts, which is currently in post-production.
Mary Kate Golding Was a Wife and a Mother
Golding and Azzaretto were married at the time of their deaths, though it is not currently clear when they tied the knot.
Not much is known about their relationship, though the couple did share one son together.
How Did Mary Kate Golding Die?
Us previously reported that Golding died after she was stabbed in the back in the apartment she shared with Azzaretto just after midnight on July 21, 2026.
Azzaretto was found dead about six hours later in Astoria Park, which is approximately two miles away from their home.
After he killed Golding, Azzaretto reportedly left the couple’s 11-month-old son with her body before he went to the park, law enforcement sources told the New York Post. Azzaretto allegedly called one of Golding’s friends to confess that he killed her, and the friend headed to their home to find her body and their son.
Authorities have not yet formally classified Golding and Azzaretto’s deaths as a murder-suicide, but investigators believe he killed his wife after they got into an argument.
The Urban Resource Institute Issues Statement After Mary Kate Golding’s Death
Following Golding’s death, the Urban Resource Institute issued a statement to reflect on the tragedy.
“Our hearts are with the loved ones of Mary Golding and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. Domestic violence is never just between two people. It leaves children without parents, families grieving unimaginable loss, and communities forever changed,” the organization wrote in a statement shared via Instagram. “This devastating case is a reminder that preventing domestic violence requires more than responding after tragedy strikes. Survivors and their families need access to safe housing, counseling, legal advocacy, and community support before violence escalates.”
After stating that their “hearts are with the loved ones” of Golding, the organization said that “domestic violence is never just between two people.”
