San Antonio Police Department

A Texas woman has been arrested in connection with a double-murder that took place in 2022, and she has been accused of using Instagram to lure the two teen boys to an apartment before she fatally shot them.

Angie Morales was arrested on Monday, May 25, and was charged with capital murder of multiple persons, according to jail records viewed by Us Weekly.

Morales, 21, was accused of killing Gregorio Ricardo Cordova-Mejia and Angelray Garcia during the deadly incident on July 29, 2022, according to an arrest affidavit viewed by KSAT. She was 17 years old at the time.

Officers were dispatched to the Union Pines Apartments just before 3 a.m. on July 29, 2022, after they received a report of shots being fired.

Upon arrival, officers found Cordova-Mejia, 19, and Garcia’s bodies near shell casings. Cordova-Mejia was found near a breezeway and Garcia, 15, “was found upstairs” of Building 28 of the complex, according to the affidavit.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted autopsies, which showed both teenagers died of multiple gunshot wounds. Their deaths were then ruled to be homicides.

A San Antonio Police Department detective said that a “confidential informant” came forward with information, which allegedly placed Morales at the scene of the crime. The informant reportedly told police that Morales used an Instagram account to communicate with and lure the teens to the Union Pines Apartments, where she “robbed” them and “subsequently killed” the victims.

It is not currently clear if Morales is the only suspect connected to the case as of this time.

Morales spoke to a detective and claimed she knew nothing about the shooting deaths, per the affidavit.

Authorities also reviewed data from Cordova-Mejia’s phone amid the investigation, which showed he communicated with Morales’ Instagram account just minutes before he was killed.

Morales told Cordova-Mejia the name of the apartment complex and gave a specific building number for him and Garcia to go to, according to the documents. However, it does not appear that Morales gave an apartment number for them to report to.

While sending her last message to Cordova-Mejia, Morales allegedly told him to “wait” and that she was “stepping out.” The first gun was fired just moments later, according to police.

Detectives also obtained a search warrant for Morales’ Instagram account, and they were able to confirm the name, date of birth and phone number associated with the account.

Additionally, police obtained records connected to Morales’ account that indicated the phone number was “in the area” at the approximate time that the murders took place, according to the affidavit.

Morales’ bond has been set at $250,000, according to Bexar County court.

It is not currently clear if Morales had entered a plea or retained legal counsel following her arrest. The San Antonio Police Department did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment regarding the situation.
