The movie lineup on Netflix has already gotten a few late additions to give the movie library the titles it needs to keep things fresh.

There’s also a new Netflix original action thriller, Apex, which seems destined to hit the streamer’s top 10 almost as soon as it’s released.

That’s just one of the Watch With Us team’s picks for the three most popular Netflix movies right now.

Our remaining choices for the week include a South African action thriller and a sports-based horror flick.

‘180’ (2026)

We live in violent times, but 180 demonstrates that violence can still surprise us as it spirals out of control in this South African thriller. Zak (Prince Grootboom) is not a confrontational man by nature, but he’s ashamed that his young son, Mandla (Mpiloenhle Ndebele), has already learned that it’s better to appease bullies rather than stand up to them. When a car carrying a crime boss, Eezy (Fana Mokoena), clips Zak’s vehicle, his attempt to confront the driver goes horribly wrong.

In the aftermath, Mandla’s life hangs in the balance and the South African police are either unwilling or unable to bring the man responsible to justice. But if the cops won’t act, then Zak will have to take matters into his own hands, even if it only makes things worse.

180 is streaming on Netflix.

‘Him’ (2025)

There are countless films about athletes who are willing to put their minds and bodies on the line in the pursuit of fame and glory. The horror flick Him takes things a few steps further and suggests that physical sacrifice may not be enough. Sinister forces may be out for the very soul of Cameron “Cam” Cade (Tyriq Withers), a football player who has star potential. Or at least he did until someone attacked and injured him.

Before Cam fully recovers, the San Antonio Saviors reach out with a potential offer, and they dangle his idol, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), in front of him as his guide and mentor. Isaiah is well aware of how the game is really played and whether Cam will willingly offer himself up to the dark forces behind the franchise. It’s a devil’s bargain, but it may be the best deal that Cam’s ever going to get to make it into the professional football league.

Him is streaming on Netflix.

‘Apex’ (2026)

This week, Netflix is set to debut one of its highest-profile original movies of the year: Apex. Charlize Theron previously headlined two Old Guard movies on Netflix, and now she’s back in a brand-new action thriller. The story follows Sasha (Theron), an experienced rock climber who hasn’t been the same since her husband perished. Sasha’s still grieving her lost love, and that’s why she’s traveled to Australia to lose herself in the wilderness until she can move past her grief.

Unfortunately for Sasha, a serial killer (Taron Egerton) has spotted her and decided that she’s going to be the ideal creature to hunt because she’s all by herself with no one else to rely on. Sasha’s capable of fighting back, but she’ll have to go even deeper into the wild to outwit the monster who pursues her.

Apex will stream on Netflix on April 24.
