’90 Day Fiance’ Recap: One Guy Calls His New Girlfriend ‘Big,’ Another Man Spends $70,000 on His Partner

Speaking the universal language? TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé episode on Sunday, September 11, revealed the first-time meetings of a number of its season 4 couples: a man who spends more than $70,000 on a woman he’s dating, a young American mother in way over her head on a trip to Morocco and a three-time divorcée who’s extra nerdy — just to name a few.

Jorge and Anfisa: “We Got Into a Heated Argument Because I Didn’t Buy Her a $10,000 Purse

Anfisa and Jorge might be the most enjoyable couple to watch of the group, with material girl Anfisa — who’s beautiful, if demanding — erasing Jorge’s iPhone remotely and telling her big-spending beau to “find [a] new girlfriend” if he doesn’t like it. Jorge — a 26-year-old cannabis entrepreneur from California — was definitely into Anfisa. “We met on Facebook,” he said, with her name listed as “My Princess” on the iPhone.

Even though Anfisa didn’t take his call, Jorge looked longingly at pictures of the two together. “I was trying to call Anfisa, but it seems like she already went to sleep or is still mad at me. I’ll try her again in a few hours,” Jorge said. “I was supposed to fly to Moscow to bring her back and start our 90 days. But a few days ago, we got into a heated argument because I didn’t buy her a $10,000 purse. She stopped returning my calls and she canceled my ticket.” Poor guy.

Then he discovered Anfisa erased his iPhone remotely by using his password.

Eventually, Jorge resigned himself to the solution that she’s most important, and he needed to earn more money. “I’m sure it sounds crazy, but I’m still madly in love with her,” he said. “I’m going to have to make a lot of money to keep her happy. I’m going to have to work more.”

Nicole and Azan: “I Was Surprised That She’s Big a Little Bit”

Then there’s that “naive” bride-to-be Nicole, who was playing with her daughter at home — as she awaited her trip to meet the “love of her life” in Morocco: Azan. She was intoxicated with the potential. Although her skeptical mother picked up on signals like the lack of sincerity in Azan’s voice, Nicole headed to Morocco for five weeks because, you know, Azan is hot.

Azan didn’t sound as physically infatuated with Nicole when he saw her in person. “The first time I saw Nicole, I see that she’s pretty and, you know, cute,” he said. “When I see all her, I mean all her body, I was surprised that she’s big, a little bit.”

This looked like it wasn’t going to end well.

Matt and Alla: “I Think These Things Should Be Discussed Just With Me”

We’re off to the Midwest for the friendly but plain Matt. He’s giving marriage a fourth try at age 43 to a Ukrainian mother of one, Alla. His goofiness hinted at why he’s been roughed-up in relationships. One aww moment was Matt’s mother toting welcome balloons, being her supportive and kooky self. Getting ready for Alla’s big arrival, Matt excitedly bought a new bed for Alla and her 7-year-old son, Max. The somewhat reserved Alla wasn’t particularly affectionate with Matt, saying “I love you” to her son but not to Matt. The chances of this working looked limited. “The commitment I’ve made to changing Alla or Max’s lives is almost overwhelming,” Matt said.

Things got a little personal when Matt discussed his marriages past, which did not make Alla happy. “I know that Matt already was married three times. But it feels a little uncomfortable because I think these things should be discussed just with me,” Alla said.

Chantel and Pedro: “This Is All I Ever Wanted

The couple who looked to have the best shot of making it is the gorgeous Chantel (from Georgia) and Pedro (from Dominican Republic). They seemed happy together and are about equal in looks. “I am so happy to be in these arms,” Chantel said. “This is all I ever wanted.” After meeting in the airport, Chantel and Pedro headed back to her house, where she had covered the bed with rose petals in the shape of a heart. “I feel comfortable,” Pedro said, in Spanish. “I feel like home.”

Chantel, as teasers show, will have created more obstacles for herself, hiding behind a lie to her parents about being engaged to Pedro. Chantel’s mother is as skeptical as Nicole’s mother, but is a bit more effective in getting through to her daughter about the dangers of rushing into marriage too soon with a man needing a visa.
