The original Maddie Ziegler! When Missy Elliott rocked the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1, the Internet had one big question: where was the little hip hop prodigy from all of her early 2000s music videos? Ask and you shall receive! Alyson Stoner, who danced alongside Elliott in her “Work It,” “Gossip Folks,” and “I’m Really Hot” videos, is now 21 — and still owning the dance floor.
Stoner released a three-minute video tribute to Elliott, 43, on Feb. 12 — and the clip has quickly amassed over 3 million views in the 24 hours since it was shared.
Stoner, a Disney channel veteran who appeared on shows like The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and That’s So Raven, dances alongside several Adidas-clad kids in the video, which was directed by Tim Milgram. The tribute features the three aforementioned Elliott songs, and includes dancer/choreographer Kenya Clay as “Missy” and young performer Tati McQuay as “Little Alyson.”
Elliott, who is said to be working on new music, quickly shared Stoner’s video via Twitter, saying “@AlysonOnTour was the lil girl in my “work it” Gossipfolks video they grown up! MissyElliott Tribute.”
The dancer and aspiring musician, who was 10 when the “Work It” video originally aired in 2002, also performed on Saturday Night Live with Elliott during her musical appearance in 2003. It’s safe to say the “Step Up” star has still got it!
