Chloe the intern saves the day! On Saturday, March 12, Ariana Grande put her vocal prowess to the test as the host of Saturday Night Live — all in the name of one Tidal-themed sketch.
The spunky pop singer, 22, played soft-spoken Chloe in a skit that involved Kenan Thompson, Jay Pharoah, Bobby Moynihan and Sasheer Zamata as quality control employees at Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service.
Things were humming along just fine (the Drake, Coldplay and Billy Joel channels were all streaming splendidly) until a sudden fitz in the system caused the crew to panic and ask Chloe (Grande) to impersonate several pop divas, stat.
Grande impressively ran through a whole laundry list of some of music’s most iconic voices, including Britney Spears, Shakira, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and even an awkward rendition of Rihanna’s “Work.”
The “One Last Time” singer made headlines last fall after she did her best Christina Aguilera and Spears impressions on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“We should just stop the show there!” Fallon exclaimed after Grande did a version of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” in the style of Spears, followed by an Aguilera-inspired rendition of “The Wheels on the Bus.”
