For those who don’t know: Ariana Grande is really, really talented. The “Problem” singer can now add the late, great Judy Garland to her already long list of impeccable celebrity impersonations.
Grande, 22, showed off her skills during a sketch for Saturday Night Live that was cut from her hosting gig over the weekend.
The pop star, along with SNL cast members Kenan Thompson, Beck Bennett and Jon Rudnitsky, played out a fictional scene from a 1961 sci-fi flick called Up We Go in Our Fantastic Rocket. Cinema Channel host Daniel O’Dance (Taran Killam) introduced the humorous spoof.
“Judy Garland’s star had faded. His career was in need of a comeback,” O’Dance said, explaining why Garland signed on for the B-list film. With that, Grande stepped out as the late star — and nailed her one-of-a-kind voice and mannerisms.
Grande has impressed with her celebrity portrayals before. Some of her best include Jennifer Lawrence (she portrayed the Oscar winner in an SNL Family Feud sketch on Saturday), Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna and the late Whitney Houston.
