Leslie Knope’s grumpiest employee is about to play another notoriously cranky pop culture star, Grumpy Cat. Parks and Recreation actress Aubrey Plaza was cast to voice the irritable feline in Lifetime’s live-action movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.
Plaza, who plays angsty Parks employee April Ludgate on the hit NBC comedy, showed her subdued excitement by changing her Twitter avatar to a creepy picture of her with a cat face drawn on top of her face.
Spongebob SquarePants’ Tim Hill and Jeff Morris are penning the Lifetime movie’s script, which is supposed to center around a pet-store cat who is constantly overlooked and a 12-year-old girl who can communicate with her.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in June, Vice President of Original Movies Arturo Interian described the upcoming TV movie as “a little Home Alone and a little Die Hard,” adding that other famed Internet memes will make cameos.
