Austin Mahone Drops This Is Not the Album Ahead of Debut Record

For the Mahomies! Austin Mahone released new music for his fans on Thursday, December 17, to hold them over until his debut studio album drops. The collection of 19 songs, titled This Is Not the Album, features collaborations with everyone from Chris Brown to even his ex-girlfriend Becky G. As for the latter, Mahone tells Us Weekly that yes, he got his ex’s permission to use their song “Rollin.”

In fact, Mahone tells Us that Becky G., whom he split from this past August, loves their jam.

“I definitely had no hesitation about putting it on there,” Mahone tells Us of his collaboration with his former love. “I don’t feel any different [about the song now]. Me and Becky are still super cool and I hit her up to make sure it was still cool with her that I put it out and she said, ‘Yeah’ — she loves that song.”

In fact, Mahone tells Us that he thinks that will be a fan favorite.

Other collaborations on the album, which is free to download, include Sage The Gemini and T-Pain, among others. The collection of tunes, which features a more mature Mahone, was almost entirely produced by the 19-year-old.

“Ninety percent of the tracks are all produced by me and written by me … Pretty much what you hear is all me, like what I’m feeling, what I’m going through,” Mahone tells Us. “It definitely is a more slowed down, romantic type of vibe. I’m a big fan of that vibe so that’s what I created.”
