Breaking the tie in Thailand! JoJo Fletcher finally chose her man on The Bachelorette on Monday, August 1, after expressing strong feelings for both Jordan Rodgers and Robby Hayes heading into the season 12 finale. In the end, Fletcher picked Rodgers, and he proposed to her on the beach. Watch the epically romantic moment in the video above!
Just before popping the question, Rodgers, 27, revealed to Fletcher, 25, that he loves her in part because of who he is when he’s around her.
“I love you so much — I love you so much,” the former NFL quarterback told her. “I fell in love at first with just us — just the person I could be right away with you, how comfortable and confident, and how you challenged me and continue to challenge me to be the best version of myself. And I love that.”
“You made me believe that love doesn’t need to have a script, that there’s not one way to draw it up,” he continued. “It’s moments like this, where I’m holding your hand, I’m looking in your eyes, and I know I’m so unbelievably in love with you. You’re my best friend, you’re my soul mate, I’m going to keep you safe, I’m going to protect you. I’m going to wake up every morning and choose you over and over and over again until you tell me I can’t.”
Before he got down on his knee to propose, Fletcher stepped in to let him know how much she cares for him.
“I just want to tell you how I feel because I don’t know if I’ve done that fully yet,” the real estate developer told him. “Jordan, I love you so much, and I’ve been waiting to tell you how I feel. I just love you so much. … I didn’t want you to get down on one knee until you knew that.”
At that, Rodgers finally was ready to show her the ring and make her an offer she couldn’t refuse. “It’s real, and it’s been real,” he said of their bond. “I love you so much, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Joelle Hannah Fletcher, will you marry me?”
After she accepted, the aspiring sports broadcaster told the Bachelorette, “Give me that hand!”
This followed Fletcher hearing Hayes profess his love for her, as she then sadly informed him that her feelings weren’t the same.
“I can’t let you get down on one knee — I can’t let you do that because I don’t want to take that moment from you,” Fletcher told the former competitive swimmer. “Robby, I woke up this morning wanting it to be you. Every day, I’ve been wanting it to be you. I fell in love with you, but for some reason my heart is somewhere else.”
“You don’t get how badly I wanted it to be you,” she continued. “I wanted it to be you.”
