Stepping in. Chris Harrison did something he has never done before in his years as a dating show host on Monday, May 19, and kicked off a contestant in the season premiere of The Bachelorette.
The Bachelor Nation personality, 43, was forced to take a stand after Kansas City native Ryan M. began to cause problems. The 28-year-old junkyard specialist coped with the twist of having two Bachelorettes by drinking heavily and things quickly got out of hand.
Ryan M. started the night on a positive note, stepping out of the limo at the Bachelor Mansion and meeting Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson. His chances at wooing one of the ladies soon unraveled, however, as he downed strong drinks and began to butt heads with the other contestants.
As Us Weekly previously revealed, Ryan got into a bit of a conflict with a man named Shawn E., jeering at his competitor as he rolled up to the show in a hot tub car. “That car sucks!” he shouted. “Dude… You suck, dude.”
Shawn later confronted Ryan about his outburst. Already many drinks deep at the time of the conversation, Ryan had no recollection of the incident and shot back at Shawn.
The boozing contestant then continued to alienate more castmates, raising eyebrows when he got too handsy with Bristowe, even slapping her butt. “Both the girls were offended by what he did,” one man noted.
When another contestant asked Ryan why he was continually taking his shirt off and getting out of control, he drunkenly responded, “Why am I not raping you right now? That’s my whole thing.”
Producers finally decided that Ryan’s run on the show was over, retrieving him from the group of men and bringing him to speak with Harrison outside of the house.
“I hate to do this, but, you’re clearly not here for either one of these girls or for sincere reasons,” the host told the disgraced contestant. “I really think it’s best if you go home. There’s a car waiting for you.”
