It’s almost time for fall TV to start back up again, and with it comes the sixteenth season of NBC’s The Biggest Loser — a reality show devoted to helping overweight contestants shed the pounds and become healthier, happier individuals.
The season 16 premiere will air on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET, but in Us Weekly’s exclusive new sneak peek, contestant John “JJ” O’Malley talks to trainer Jen Widerstrom about his difficult weight loss journey.
The 22-year-old bouncer is the oldest of four and weighs 392 pounds. O’Malley desperately wants to be a role model to his younger siblings, but thinks he’s setting a bad example for them with his current lifestyle.
Choking back tears, O’Malley explained in the clip, “With my little brother, he’s so young. I don’t want him to think that it’s okay to be unhealthy. I don’t want him to look at me. I feel like it’s my responsibility to try [to lose weight].”
