Hope you all survived the Super Bowl and prepared yourself for one the favorite Biggest Loser episodes of the season: Makeover Week!
With only seven contestants left, everyone rejoiced that they made it to Makeover Week in the Monday, February 8, episode. And the week would not be complete without the return of fashion icon and guru Tim Gunn, along with hair stylist extraordinaire Ken Paves.
Besides Tim's fantastic fashion advice, he hit on some great points. The contestants have worked so hard, but they still believe they are at their larger sizes. They haven’t really realized that all their hard work has paid off until they get to try on the new clothes at smaller sizes. What a great revelation and moment for each of them. And for those of you trying to lose weight at home, it’s important for you to remember that hard work does pay off. If you stick with it, you will see the results. That’s why Makeover Week is always such a thrill for everyone — the contestants; us, the trainers; and for everyone watching. We get to see that moment of realization that the journey is paying off. As each contestant walked down that long red carpet to us, we could see and feel their pride, and trust me — it was reciprocated.
It was so great to meet everyone’s family and see what kind of support the contestants have waiting for them at home. But then, as a Biggest Loser first, this week the contestants’ families got to participate in the Last Chance Challenge. Once again, it was a neck-and-neck challenge, with Erin pulling off the win (along with her boyfriend Matt). She won a one-pound advantage at the weigh-in, plus a one-week stay at a Biggest Loser resort with Matt.
At the weigh-in, I sort of expected low numbers, only because it was Makeover Week so not as much time could be spent in the gym, but man oh man, did those contestants put up some great numbers! The remaining couple on the ranch, Stephen and Jacky, lost 19 pounds combined! Wow! But even with great results, Lauren and Felicia fell below the yellow line, and ultimately Lauren got sent home. I have no doubt that she will continue to be the workhorse that she was on the ranch and continue her journey at home.
What did you think of the makeovers? Whose transformation was the most dramatic to you? And we are just two weeks away from the live finale! Who do you want to see there?
The Biggest Loser airs on NBC Mondays at 9 p.m. EST. Dolvett Quince has been a trainer on the show since season 12 and is recapping each season 17 episode for Us Weekly.
