‘Biggest Loser’ Star Dolvett Quince’s Season 17 Premiere Recap: ‘I Was So Proud’ of Richard Hatch

We’re baaaaaack!

It might be the return of The Biggest Loser, but in season 17, there were a lot of changes. There’s a new gym divided into two sections — one for me, one for Jen Widerstrom — a new house, not one but two scales and some familiar faces, including Bob Harper‘s, who is now the host!

The first challenge had the contestants on a treadmill, or they could push the button and instantly win $5,000, then $10,000, then ultimately $25,000. What is your price for a healthier you? Would you push the button?

I’m so proud of my team this season. We have some great contestants who make me so proud to see them wearing Team Red. I have two faces on my team who you may recognize — Richard Hatch (Survivor) and Erin Willett (The Voice). And may I just say they killed it at the challenge! Both of them crawled up a ladder to a vault, where they made the important choice of taking the eight-pound advantage at the weigh-in instead of the $40,000 to split between the two of them. Again, I was so proud.

A new face you saw a lot of is Felicia … for whatever reason, she was resisting the training. I felt it best to challenge her. She may have disagreed with my tactics, but in the end she proved me wrong and did not go home first … so I will keep pushing her to reach her goals, and she will get there.

What I didn’t see coming was my team winning an eight-pound advantage and then losing the weigh-in regardless. My team did so much in week 1 and gave it their all, and yet the scale did not reflect that. It was so hard to send someone home so early, but I know that person will do well at home. The red team will come back with a vengeance and win the weigh-in soon!

So what did you think? Do you like all the new changes this season? How is my Red Team looking to you?

The Biggest Loser airs on NBC Mondays at 9 p.m. EST. Dolvett Quince has been a trainer on the show since season 12 and is recapping each season 17 episode for Us Weekly.
