Committing to his craft! Channing Tatum recently went seriously undercover and took on a new identity, all to promote his upcoming movie Magic Mike XXL.
The hunky star, 35, teamed up with Omaze to offer fans the chance to win a trip to see the Magic Mike sequel with the lead actor himself. In promotion of the opportunity ahead of the steamy flick's July 1 release date, Tatum pulled one hilarious prank on fans of the first 2012 installment.
"I'm rounding up the boys to go to the premiere of Magic Mike XXL," the Step Up actor explained to the camera in a video of his prank. "I want you to come with me, so, to give you a little preview, we gathered an unsuspecting group of Magic Mike fans."
"We're gonna show them the movie in 3-D. Now, to give the fans the best show possible, I'm going to go undercover and make sure that that happens," Tatum added, transforming in the video into an older, less conventionally attractive marketing exec with patchy graying hair and a questionable beard.
Tatum joked that he was "the most terrifying marketing exec ever," taking on the role as a way to be involved with the screening. As fans arrived at the theater, the father of one asked them questions about the original Magic Mike movie and their interest in the sequel.
Once the viewers were finally seated in the theater, they were given 3-D glasses and told to enjoy the show. The surprise was much more than 3-D, however, as an army of shirtless male strippers then dropped in and gyrated on the audience members.
The dancers then motioned for their still-incognito marketing exec pal to join them, cracking up as the businessman shimmied. After giving a few lap dances, Tatum finally lost his wig and his beard, revealing his true self to the crowd.
