Once a Cheetah Girl, always a Cheetah Girl! Almost nine years after they last shared the screen in Disney’s The Cheetah Girls 2, Raven-Symone and Adrienne Bailon reunited at Bailon’s new gig on The Real.
The former That’s So Raven actress, 29, paid a visit to the Fox talk show this week for an episode airing Monday, March 9. While there, she got her girl power on with a “Cheetah-licious” dance battle against Tamar Braxton and fellow former teen star Tamera Mowry-Housley.
Symone — now appearing on Empire — was one of the four original stars of Disney’s Cheetah Girls franchise, along with Bailon, Kiely Williams, and Sabrina Bryan. She made her mark in both 2003’s The Cheetah Girls and 2006’s The Cheetah Girls 2, singing and dancing to memorable tunes including “Cinderella” and “Girl Power.”
“I love it. I think it turned out to be a wonderful franchise,” she told Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa when the second film came out. “You know, you have a group of girls, all ethnicities, all shapes, all everything, and we come together and we have this common goal of becoming famous and being a wonderful type of Destiny’s Child situation.”
Alas, like Destiny’s Child, the quartet ultimately became a trio. Symone quit the franchise to focus on her solo career before the third film, 2008’s The Cheetah Girls: One World, leaving Bailon, Williams, and Bryan to carry on the legacy without her. They continued to perform and tour together until 2009.
The Real airs on Fox at 12 p.m./4 p.m. on weekdays.
