From roses to rumbas! The Bachelor‘s Chris Soules appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday, March 10, to confirm that he has signed up for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars.
As Us Weekly exclusively revealed last week, Soules, 33, is the surprise addition to the cast of 12 celebs competing for the Mirrorball trophy. He is paired with recent DWTS pro Witney Carson, who made her first appearance on the competition show in 2014’s 18th season. Carson, 21, debuted with singer Cody Simpson and won season 19 last fall alongside partner Alfonso Ribeiro.
Carson recently snuck out to Iowa to visit her DWTS partner, bonding with the farmer, who picked now-fiancée Whitney Bischoff in Monday, March 9’s season finale of The Bachelor. So as not to blow her cover and reveal Soules as the mystery competitor, Carson went incognito, traveling in a wig, sunglasses, and, of course, an Iowa hat.
With fiancée Bischoff by his side, Soules shared the exciting news on GMA, explaining, “So instead of moving to Arlington, we’re going to be moving to LA for a couple weeks at least to be on Dancing With the Stars.”
Soules and Carson spent time in the reality star’s family barn, getting prepped for their season of fancy-footing. The two will be competing against big stars and DWTS vets including Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough, Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev, and Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani.
While he was conflicted about the opportunity at first, sources tell Us that Soules reached out to fellow Bachelor and DWTS alum Sean Lowe for a consultation on the gig. He also spoke to DWTS producers to get a full rundown and finally signed up for the show.
“He seems like he’s not totally sure what he’s getting himself into!” an insider told Us of Soules. “It will be fascinating to see how well he does.”
