Brad and Angelina, George and Amal, Christoph and his cheeseburger! These are the great love stories of our time. On Sunday, Jan. 11, Christoph Waltz sat in the audience of the Beverly Hilton Hotel and looked on as Michael Keaton bested him for the Golden Globe Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical win.
Hopes dashed, the Big Eyes star, 58, retreated to The Weinstein Company & Netflix afterparty, where he promptly ordered a delicious Fatburger cheeseburger to drown his sorrows. Little did he know that this particular hamburger would become a close companion for the rest of the night as photographers snapped away.
Sitting on the couch next to his Big Eyes costar and Golden Globe winner Amy Adams, Waltz likely felt sad without a trophy of his own. But ever the class act, the two-time Oscar winner offered her a bite of his beloved burger.
What happened next will likely be made into a David O’Russell movie with more cleavage and crazier hairstyles. Adams lunged for the burger, eyes wide, claws out, desperate to take a bite.
Nonplussed, Waltz calmly smiled as the five-time Oscar nominee, 40, continued her joke, knowing full well the tasty snack was safe in his hands. When the photographer asked for a couple’s pic, Adams posed with a pal while Waltz proudly held up the Inglourious Berger for all to see.
Later, rejected by the other guests, Waltz — whose wife Judith Holste attended the show with him — was photographed angrily biting into the cheesy burger with a look of pure contempt on his face. Nobody puts burger in the corner.
