Getting up off the ground! Corey Feldman returned to the Today show for another unique performance – which you can watch in the video above – on Thursday, October 13.
The former child star, 45, belted out his new song "Take a Stand" during the energetic set. He wore a gold and white hoodie while his backup singers rocked white angel costumes.
"Cause I choose to ignore the suffering abroad / Doesn't mean it isn't happening, just means I turned it off," he sings. "Just get up off the ground and take a stand."
Feldman's drop-by may surprise some. Last month he faced harsh criticism online after he sang "Go 4 It" on the NBC morning program. In response he posted two emotional Facebook videos and told Us Weekly that he had a breakdown on his flight back home.
"I don't care if you're hiding behind a computer or a keyboard — it's not an excuse. It's not acceptable," the Stand by Me star told Us of the brutal criticism he received. "The somebody that you're talking about is a real person with real feelings and real emotions. And I'll tell you what, if I hadn't been through this one thousand times, I might've taken my life over it. And then how would everybody feel?"
Feldman, like his new tune suggests, is trying to leave the negativity behind. He penned an open essay about getting bullied, which was published on Today.com Wednesday.
"As an artist, I've been bullied, I've been picked on strictly because I spread a message of love… As an artist, I must stand strong. I must keep moving forward, no matter what. Baring my heart through my song. But just like the rest of you, I only strive to belong," he wrote. "I'm no better than you; I'm no less of a man. But I'm a flawed, fearless artist, presenting a band. My hope is you will see me, hear and feel me, and one day understand, that underneath the art, I'm simply a man."
