Is Daniel Radcliffe’s inner Slytherin showing?
The Harry Potter star, 24, is once again taking a turn toward the supernatural, but this time there will be no wands or invisibility cloaks. Radcliffe is starring in the unusual murder mystery thriller Horns, which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2013 and is set for a UK release date this Halloween.
In it he plays Ig Perrish, a young man whose girlfriend Merrin Williams (The Dark Knight Rises’ Juno Temple) is raped and murdered. The town is convinced that Ig did it, and his outward appearance seems to verify their suspicions when he sprouts horns from his head.
Things get very dark—snakes are involved (RIP Nagini)—and Ig’s horns possess the ability to force confessions out of strangers as he seeks the real killer.
While the premise is quirky, an exclusive clip from Collider shows that it’s not Radcliffe’s horns that are the most shocking part of his performance. The British star also manages to execute a practically flawless American accent.
This is his first on-screen American accent (he adapted one on Broadway in 2011’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying). Watch the clip to see him pull it off!
