Well, this is depressing! Less than 24 hours off the air, and David Letterman's Late Show set pieces are already in dumpsters, Us Weekly can exclusively reveal.

Moving trucks arrived at 53rd Street near the historic Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on Thursday, May 21, an insider tells Us. Making room for Stephen Colbert's takeover, Letterman's famous skyline backdrop, desk, and several chairs have already gotten the boot. The show's marquee is also coming down next week.

The comedian, 68, said his final farewell on Wednesday, leaving many viewers toasting to his 33-year late-night career, and celebrities sharing clips from their past appearances. The legendary host was joined by several of his famous friends as he took the stage for the last time, and gave a sweet shout-out to his wife Regina and son Harry.

"Thank you. Just seriously, thank you for being my family," he said. "I love you both and really nothing else matters, does it?"

Letterman's TV staff family, meanwhile, watched the episode together at McGee's Pub before heading to the wrap party at the Museum of Modern Art. The man of the hour, however, was a bit more sneaky during his exit. The source says that he used a limo as a decoy and snuck through one of his favorite restaurants, Angelo's Pizza, before walking over to MoMa.

"It was a chill affair," a second insider tells Us of the bash. "Dave was there with his crew and staff and chatted with Steve Martin." Letterman also celebrated his big night with Tina Fey and Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, but left after less than an hour.
