Duck Dynasty is about to fly the coop. A&E announced on Wednesday, November 16, that the unscripted series centered on the Robertson family and their duck-call business will sign off after the end of the 11th season.
The Louisiana-based Robertsons made the announcement in a video that aired following the season 11 premiere on November 16. The current season runs through January 18, with the show then returning for seven final episodes from March 1 through April 12. After that, the family will additionally appear in a series of holiday specials. (Watch the goodbye video by clicking here.)
“After five years, we’ve decided as a family for this to be the final chapter of the Duck Dynasty series,” Jase Robertson says in the clip.
Si Robertson adds, “May God bless each and every one of you.”
The series, which was highly rated right out of the gate, has faced some bumpiness throughout the course of its run. Phil was briefly suspended from the show in 2013 during the fifth season after he made comments that were perceived as antigay.
Fans will still be able to get their fix of wacky uncle Si, who will appear with Willie on A&E’s new series Going Si-Ral. The show, which launched on November 16, features the pair weighing in on viral videos and other online trends. Jep, Jessica and Kay all appear in the premiere.
Twitter users were quick to offer their thoughts about the series coming to an end, with some lamenting the news, while others not particularly disappointed to see the show go.
It’s out! This will be the final season of duck dynasty after 5 years. It’s been an amazing ride. Thank y’all for the incredible journey❤️
