Hear a Violin Version of an Aerosmith Classic!

Is the wait for Aerosmith's Steven Tyler to take the judges seat on American Idol killing you as much as it is me? I can't wait one more sec to see the Beantown bad boy's nightly outbursts next season (Will they hire a PA just to tie long strips of cloth around his Coca Cola glass? Will his sober coach be there for commercial breaks? And just how many times will he shriek when he gets all hot and bothered on classic rock cover night?). Well, I found something to pacify you in the meantime. Classical violinist David Garrett, 28, pays tribute to his rock heroes by offering up classical covers of hits by Nirvana, U2, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and, yes, Aerosmith on his sophomore CD, the aptly-titled Rock Symphonies.

As the Juilliard alum explains the project, "I always enjoyed when rock groups integrated orchestra into in their sound, and it elevated the music to another level. Any musician loves having the full sound of an orchestra behind them — it's an amazing experience." To boot, he adds, "I've probably spent more hours of my life playing the violin than sleeping!"
