The choice is yours!

Rolling Stone is allowing readers to vote on which one of 16 unsigned bands should grace an upcoming cover of the legendary music magazine.

In Rolling Stone's first-ever "Do You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star?" contest, the magazine is soliciting readers' votes — online at RollingStone.com — to whittle a group of 16 bands down to one, who will appear on the magazine's August 18 cover.

Readers can vote now on their four favorite acts who will join four other groups selected by Rolling Stone editors to travel to New York City to record two songs and perform in an industry showcase.

As the six-month competition progresses, the field will continue to narrow, and the final two acts will perform at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in June. The winner of the Garnier Fructis-sponsored contest will be announced on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and receive a recording record contract with Atlantic Records.

"Since its inception, part of Rolling Stone's central mission has been discovering and featuring new music," the magazine's founder, Jann Wenner, said. "This competition shines a light on the country's top unsigned bands and gives them a chance to grace the cover of the magazine that has launched the careers of some of the most well-known artists in rock history."
